Forest areas worldwide are dwindling at alarming rates, with irreversible deforestation of approx. 130,000 km² per year, the size of Greece! In other words - approx. 200 000 acres of forest are cut down every Day – a permanent deforestation of 139 acres every Minute.
Forests are unique. At just under four billion hectares, they still cover around 30 percent of the earth's surface. They fulfill a wide range of functions for humans and nature, for example as a vital source of raw materials or for climate and species protection.
And yet, to date, it has not been possible to halt their progressive destruction and degradation.
Experts worldwide agree that agroforestry projects are the most sensible way to relieve deforestation, and provide compensation.
